Yet another weird SF fan

I'm a mathematician, a libertarian, and a science-fiction fan. Common sense? What's that?

We Elders of Zion Approve

According to Phil Plait (seen via the Defender of the Establishment):

A lot of these claim that the United States is either a Christian nation — a ridiculous and easily-disprovable notion — or that it was founded on Judeo-Christian principles (the "Judeo" part is a giveaway that these politicians are Leviticans: they seem to keep their noses buried more in the fiery wrath of the Old Testament than in the actually gentle, politically-correct teachings of Jesus… more on this later, promise). Specifically, they claim quite often that our laws are based on the Ten Commandments.

It's just another part of the takeover of the United States by my fellow Red-Sea pedestrians.

Note how Phil skates by actually proving his assertion that this isn't a Christian nation, even though it was founded by religious Christians and still has an overwhelming Christian majority. "It can easily be proved" does not actually constitute a proof.

What is the First Amendment but Christ's "Render unto Caesar...?" The whole reason we have separation of Church and State is that both Protestants and Catholics harbored memories of religious oppression in England under Mary and the Puritans.

Simply asserting America isn't Christian isn't the same as proving it. What Mr. Plait means is that none of his friends are (openly) religious, therefore religion is something only for idiots and should be done away with -- especially since many religious people don't vote the way Phil Plait would like them to.

Excellent. So when can we expect to see hot girls carrying rifles in public ala Girls of the IDF?
